Like may other signs of Allah, we rarely try to reflect upon the importance of eyes and ears.
As it is said in Surah Al-Mulk # – “Say it is He Who created you, and endowed you with hearing (ears) and seeing (see), and hearts.Little thanks you give.”
How were these delicate things created ? What would have happened if we were deprived of these ? How could we able to see and hear then ? Many simple but yet important questions come to our mind.

First of all, Allah created human beings through seven stages as described in Quran,in Surah Al-Muminun # 12-14 – ” And indeed we created man out of an extract of clay (water and earth).Thereafter We made him (off springs of Adam) as a Nuftah ( mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of a woman). Then We made the Nuftah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So Blessed is Allah, the best of creators”. The following has been found true scientifically too, later by the scientists.

Who chooses which of the tiny cells in the growth process should selectively become an eye of a person ? Which cells should develop into a hearing faculty ? Who makes these decisions and who develops these cells and eyes and ears ? Should w not be totally submissive to our creator who has given us these faculties and freedom and guidance to use them.As in Surah Al-Insan # 2-3 – ” Verily, We have created man from Nuftah of mixed semen,in order to try him; so We made him hearer and seer.Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful.”

We should use our eyes to see the various signs of Allah and his existence, and our ears to hear his message and move towards Islam and its teachings. As mentioned in Surah Al-Qaf # 37 – ” Verily, therin is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ears while he is heedful.”

Even for a believer proper use of eyes and ears is very crucial.Any deviation from the guidance of Allah will be punished. In fat these various faculties are like security guards of Allah and they will act as witnesses on the Day of Judgement, as said in Surah Al-Fussilat # 20-23 – ” Till when they reach it (Hell-Fire), their hearing and their eyes, and their skin will testify against them as to what they used to do.And they will say to their skin, “Why do you testify against us?’ They will say: “Allah ha caused us to speak – He causes all things to speak and He created you first time, and to Him you are made to return.” And you have not been hiding yourselves, lest your ears and your eyes should testify against you; but you thought that Allah knew not much of what you were doing. And that thought of yours which you thought about your Lord, has brought you to destruction, and you have become this Day) of those utterly lost ! “

Hence, we should use our eyes and wars for nothing but good deeds. We should use them to appreciate the creator who granted these remarkable facilities to us through His Benevolence. That is the least we can do for these free gifts.
