How she reverted to Islam

Posted on: Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Sometime, long back like in many house holds a Girl was born to a Muslim couple. They loved her dearly and raised her as to be a good and true Muslimah. She was taught to read Quran at a very small age, and was told the importance of reading Namaz and to worship the sole creator of the entire Universe – Allah.

Naive as she was, She never realised the value of her parents valuable advise and teaching of Islam. Little did her parents know what her real interest was – Was it to really follow what Islam teaches us to, or was it to ward off her parents, so that they would stop bothering her at once. But deep in her heart she knew the answer.
Misunderstand her not, Dear readers. For she had immense love for her parents in her heart, She respected them for what they were, for what they taught her. But as a child she never understood what been a righteous Muslimah would fetch her. The concept of Paradise and Hell was something of which she understood very little, regardless of her parents efforts, for she never choose to understand

Life moved on, she was swiftly shifted from her immature age to an adolescent one. An age when she started noticing changes in her body and out of shyness started covering her body with a cloth, a Jiljab. Her parents were very happy to see their daughter respond to their teachings.

Soon came a time when she found herself facing the worst time of her life. She was confronted by many issues which were beyond her capacities to understand. She saught refuge in Allah, for the first time in her life with her heart, with sheer dedication and trust in HIM. Having realised the Mercy and Love Allah has bestowed her with saving her from various troubles, How her prayers were answered, Curiosity took over her on what her religion holds, she started searching for various answers digging deep in the treasure of Knowledge. She felt that her parents, her friends werent well equipped to answer all the questions she had, leaving her thritsy for more.

Once out of nowhere a book, An explanation of Quran caught her eye, It has been present there for years, covered in dust and spider webs but shining with the knowledge it held. Had it been shown to her by Allah or was that a coincidence, She never knew. She settled down and read a few pages, and felt peace and tranquility settling inside her. Reading Quran by understanding what it meant, was something she found was in desperate need of. It held all the answers to her satisfaction, and opened doors to the wide array of areas.

The same girl after 16 years was born again. But this time as a Muslimah, rather than been a namesake one. A Muslimah who prays 5 times a day only for Allah, who recites Quran only for Allah and does everything only for Allah. She lives with abiding trust and faith in Allah to look after her family and herself in whatever matter it holds.

I wrote this story last night, which is by far very close to my heart for many reasons. You maybe wondering who this girl is ? The girl in the story is Us, She represents every one of us irrespective of our gender. Haven’t we all at some time in our life rediscovered what Islam is about and renounced our faith in Allah ??

I become a muslim many times a day πŸ™‚

Please keep writing πŸ™‚

I even know some people who revert at their 20, 30, 40 and something. So she found out in early age without going through many stories.
Beautiful story you wrote..

Mashallah…I think everyone is like this when they are young. It is a parent’s duty to teach their children te basics of Islam but the child’s duty to understand what they are taught, in my experience this only happens when the individual is old enough to understand, this happens with experience of the world and maturity

“The girl in the story is Us, She represents every one of us irrespective of our gender. Haven’t we all at some time in our life rediscovered what Islam is about and renounced our faith in Allah ??” – love it!

Assalam-alaikam Sister Maryam?
I so agree sister Maryam, I was born in a Muslim family, but I remember the point when I really “became” Muslim. I think its the same for most of us – there comes a point as an adult we make a decision that this what we really want.

Dear Maryam, I loved reading this, and agree so much with it. Very well written!

Beautiful…………lovely…………………excellent.
Well written Maryam.

Sara .. Mashallah.

Shahrzad … Yes, That was pretty early. Maybe Allah choose to guide her at an early age itself .. πŸ™‚

Arima .. I couldnt agree more with you. Agreed that its parents responsibilty to awaken the child, but its in the child’s hand to really absorb their teachings and work on them… πŸ™‚

Liya .. So do i .. πŸ™‚

Umm Salihah .. Yes, And thats exactly what I feel. Hence I feel the girl in this story represents each of us.

Mona .. I am glad you loved reading it … πŸ™‚
Jazakallah

Fatima .. Thank you for your lovely words … πŸ™‚
