Looking back, Its been two years since I started a new journey altogether – my journey towards Allah slowly but steadily. I still have miles to cover and ample to change, nonetheless pleased with the change of events. Don’t quite remember the first book I laid my hands on, but do remember the ones that truly triggered my hunger and filled me with deep need to search for more. Here’s a list for those who would like to walk down the road to Sakinah (Tranquility)
Stories of Prophets: One of the topics that always intrigued me was stories of our prophets. Their journey prior as well as after the divine message was sent down to them to lead their Ummah to the truth, Islam; coupled with trials and tribulations imposed on them by people of those times in spite of which they emerged as a winner by the aid and mercy of Allah. As a believer, It is very important that we believe in each and every prophet sent on earth by Allah, but do we consider only believing is enough or do we like to read about their life stories and learn from them is our call to make. For those who fall in the latter criteria, Here’s a little something for you. Having understood that everyone may not be able to buy it, I have searched for an online copy of it to read which click here and for those who would like to own a copy, do so by clicking on the image.
Tafsir of Quran: This, I believe is a book that must be read by every Believer. Quran is a means through which Allah speaks to His disciples, warning us against the great trails and attractions in this world, the ways of which to protect ourselves from their spell, the great reward that lies with Allah for those who are indeed blessed and patient. Since as kids, we were told to continous recital of Quran; but for people like me (almost) illiterate when comes to Arabic have to rely on books like this to understand each word henceforth said. Once again, can click here to get an online version of this tafseer collection or can click on the image to place an order.
Sahih Al Bukhari: While surfing the net quite awhile back, I remember reading on a blog about the great number of hadith which were tampered with and are posted on web for people to read in turn defacing their minds and faith with. Listed along with it were ways to identify such fabrication, which although was very helpful but was tedious to remember them all to really spot a difference at first place. The solution ? Trust the authentic collection of Hadith by Sahih Al-Bukhari. This 9 volume set is a collection of almost every hadith, characterized under different chapters touching every posiible topic. Ahadith are a great way to know more about Islam, concerning the topics discussed as well as the ones not-so discussed in Quran, What better than letting it guide our life on the basis of what our beloved prophet S.A.S once commented ?? Click here for the online version and on the image to buy it.
Fortress of The Muslims: A real treasure I believe to be owned by every Muslim. A great complication of daily dua’s in a pocket sized book, ranging from duas to be read on grave and important occassions to the ones to be recited daily the reward of which been so high that no muslim could practically afford to otherwise. Reserched and gathered by scholars from Quran and Sunnah, these duas are the ones suggested and recommended by Prophet S.A.S to his sahabis and Ummah. Here is a copy for those who would like to have a online one and for those who wishes to buy one, please click on the image to do so.

I’d recommend the biography of the Prophet s.a.w., by Martin Lings. Early on my journey, i read it and really really enjoyed it and learnt so much. The style draws you in because it’s written as a story – and not in point form (as is the style of many Islamic books).
Another nice seerah is the one by Tariq Ramadan – which extracts lessons from various incidents. It’s not meant to be a comprehensive account of the bio – but it is a different kind of angle to just facts.
If reading is not your thing – or you just don’t have time to read, audio is another option. It’s especially useful for travelling – letting you use the time to learn, rather than waste it in traffic or on the train. Anwar Al-Awlaki has some excellent series’, like “Lives of the Prophets” and “The Herafter”. He covers the material very comprehensively. You can find some of his stuff (but not the abovementioned series) for free at http://www.kalamullah.com/anwar-alawlaki.html
Thanks for your information. I will purchase these books without fail.
